Martin Luther King Jr. set the perfect example of how to handle oppression of any kind. The courage it took to stand alone as a voice against evil is inspiring and because his cause was ultimately good, his one voice became the representative of millions. His boldness and drive to see positive change without resorting to violence shows the power of leadership, integrity, and obeying God’s command, Though he died in pursuit of his famous dream, his life continues to save many others. Challenging the system, calling for all to live out the values they preach, leading multitudes to better futures, and giving his life for his righteous cause….. hmmmm…. sounds like Dr. King really did follow Jesus’s footsteps. I’m sure I speak for the late great MLK when I quote 1 Corinthians 11:1 “Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ”. Where would 2011 be if we all did the same?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. should be an example to everyone who carries the banner for an unpopular cause. He is an inspiration to those who see that something is wrong and have the gall to try to do something about it. As a musician and a writer, part of my duty is to express opinions that are true, regardless of how they are received by any particular audience. Dr. King was able to deliver a message that went against everything the majority said was the norm and he did with passion and grace. I can only hope to one day be able to deliver my messages in a similar manner.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. personally means a lot to me. Aside from being a minority and having freedom, what I really admire is how he truly believed what he preached. Many people say they are about something but they do little to back it up. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. believed in his dream so much that he was willing to put his life on the line for it. I would like to think I’m passionate about something to the point that I would be willing to die for it. God has blessed me with so many amazing people in my life. Because of the help of one man, we can not focus on something as unimportant as skin color and concentrate on who we are as people.
