The Flight School Scout League kicked off Thursday, October 27th at River Run Christian Church. For those unaware, the Scout League is the method in which we recruit local talent in our area. Last season saw 7 players find their way onto the Flight Roster for 2011. While we have several returning players, there is room for some new, refreshing talent. We’re always seeking players with a passion to play, a commitment to development, and an upstanding character in which they represent the Flight positively in our community. We hope to have a few players blogging throughout this Scout League. Be on the look out for that.
RESULTS FOR WEEK ONE
Game One of the night saw Team Black Bear defeating Team Uprising by the score of 83-46. Corey Williams and returning Flight member Fred Meeks combined for 45 points on their way to victory.
In the second game of the night, Team Miners defeated Team Seminoles 57-47. Newcomer Cliff Dale chipped in 16 points and returning Flight member Jon Adamson led Team Miners with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Another returning Flight member, Ron Peterson (Team Seminoles), made his presence known by contributing 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks in a losing effort.
GM/DIR. OF PLAYER PERSONNEL COMMENTS
From a G.M./ Director of Player Personnel perspective, it was a typical first night. A lot of players were trying to do it all themselves. I really want to see more hustle and a LOT more Defense. The next few weeks will be interesting, as the players begin to click as teammates and increase the competition levels.
COACH KING’S COMMENTS
“I was also disappointed to see so much one-on-one play. Team basketball players are what we are looking for. One-on-one play is cancerous to team chemistry. I hope to see some players show us their coachable spirit and play better together as a team, moving the ball and finding the easier shots.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR WEEK TWO:
Corey Williams (Black Bears)
Cliff Dale (Miners)
